Portrait looking north through the ionic columns at the Moseley Street entrance to the Manchester Central Art Gallery, UK
Manchester City Art gallery, in a Greek neo-classical style, was designed by Sir Charles Barry and built 1825-35 for the Royal Manchester Institution, at a cost of £30,000. Six ionic columns of a pedimented projected portico mark the Mosley Street entrance. The building became the Manchester Art Gallery, when transferred to Manchester City Council in 1882. The building is Grade 1 Listed. A portrait shot through the ionic columns at the Mosley Street entrance, looking north to Nicholas Street.
