A veteran's ashes are piped over the side during the 2016 Battle of the Atlantic Committal Service from HMCS MONTREAL.

A committal ceremony is held on the first Sunday of May every year in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, to commit the ashes of Battle of the Atlantic veterans into the sea off Point Pleasant Park. Traditionally held from the deck of the Canadian Naval Memorial Trust's restored corvette HMCS SACKVILLE, it has been held in recent years from ships of the Royal Canadian Navy.
