Much the most interest-ing papers in the sixth volume are some treatises translated into English fromItalian giving accounts of China and Japan. We have also the famous easternvoyages of Stevens and Lancaster, and an admirable account of Drakes memorableand daring raid on Cadiz in 1587. The volume concludes with brief accounts ofthe first English voyages to Benin on the west coast of Africa.
