Flanking the 3rd avenue: (3) 6 large buildings, whichon the ground-floor, and partly in the first story above, contain work-shops; in the 2nd story living and eating rooms for the inmates, eachroom intended for 34 inmates. In the 3rd story: Sleeping rooms eachfor 17 inmates with 340 cubic foci (10*506 cubic meters) per bed;renewal of air 3 times an hour. On the West side of the lot (4 one building,containing workshops for the cabinet-makers, the tin-smiths, thehouse-painters, and black-smiths (N); also the baths (M). Near tothis (5) the stables (0). Opposite the main entrance (6) the chapel(G) with its handsome cupola. (7) To the right of this the Laundry(H) with its steam-engine, working 2 Martin washing machines, &c,also drying room and mangling room. Above those the ironingrooms, and sewing rooms; finally, connected with the rooms men-tioned by means of an elevator, the store rooms, for the keeping ofthe linen and woolen inventory of the Establishment. To the leftof the chapel (8) the domestic office-building with kitchen (F), providedwith steam-boiling apparatus and cooking stove, scullery adjoining,and in the basement extensive store rooms. (9
