The city is regularly laid out, andcontains ten squares, that, with the public walks, are planted with the Prideof China trees, which contribute much to the salubrity,comfort and ornamentof the place. The streets are unpaved, and very sandy. The principalpublic buildings are a court house, exchange, academy, and ten houses of. Interior of Presbyterian Church, public worship. The city, a few years ago, was built almost wholly of wood, with veryfew elegant houses; but a large proportion of the houses recently erectedare handsomely built of brick.
