In the vicinity of Michigan City, it is "abundant along the lake in summer," (Byrkit); Starke County, June 10,1888, (Deane); Mr. Ridgway informs me of its breeding in Knox and Gibson counties. Along water courses and about lakes they are often seen during the migrations, but other places they are rare. In southeastern Indiana, never seen in summer.
