Portrait painting of Benjamin Franklin by Joseph-Siffred Duplessis, circa 1785. Original in the National Portrait Gallery. The engraved portrait on the US 100 dollar bill is based upon this painting. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) is 79 in this picture. Duplessis (1725-1802) was 60 when he painted it. The original owner of this painting was Franklin's neighbor in Passy, France, Madame Anne Louise Boyvin d'Hardancourt Brillon de Jouy.
