Pope AFB was transferred from Air Combat Command to Air Mobility Command and the 23rd Wing was awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit award and inactivated. During the ceremonies, the 43rd Airlift Wing and the 23rd Fighter Group were activated. The 23rd FG will be a tenant ACC unit on Pope and report to the 347th Wing at Moody AFB, Ga.
