Tunis, Tunisia. 24 May 2024. A major rally takes place in Tunis in protest against the recent wave or arrests of lawyers and journalists by the Tunisian authorities. According to local sources hundreds of Tunisians marched through the capital Tunis chanting slogans against the Tunisian government and condemning "the government's targeting of dissident voices". They also demanded the revocation of presidential decree 54 passed in 2022 which purport to combat "false information and rumours", but according to critics has been used to stifle dissent
