It must be agreed that cases ofthis class are among the most difficult to treatwith permanently good results ; but successfulresults with the skull- and chin-cap were re-corded by F. Heuckeroth (90) (91) as longago as 1892. Abnormal development continued,as it often is, until a late age defies treat-ment by mechanical means, and even in thesimpler cases retention appliances are neces-sary for a prolonged period.
