London, England. 1953. A view of a temporary annexe structure erected outside the west entrance of Westminster Abbey for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, which took place on 2nd June 1953. Designed by Eric Bedford, it was referred to as the ‘arrival and robing suite’, its purpose to facilitate the organisation of the procession before the coronation service. Adjacent to the annexe are the Westminster Scholars War Memorial column and The Sanctuary building.
