Woman walking past the imposing gateway of a prison.

Gateway of Pudu Prison, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Built in 1895, this prison was in use until 1986. It was closed in that year after the hanging of two Australians, Kevin Barlow and Brian Chambers, for drug offences. It reopened as a museum for a short time in 2004. Rumours are that the intention was to sell it for residential development but there were few buyers due to fear of the ghosts of executed and murdered prisoners. The result was a plan to re-use it as a low security prison for drug offenders.
