AGAT, Guam -- SEPT 27, 2018 - Navy Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd Class Class Timothy Compton of Belleville, Illinois throws debris from Typhoon Mangkhut into a pile at the edge of Nimitz Park with fellow crew members from USS Ronald Reagan and Agat's staff members nearby. He said, "It feels good to help out." Counting prior port calls, Compton has been to Guam four times. Navy Sailors from Naval Base Guam and USS Ronald Reagan and Air Force Airmen from Andersen Air Force Base gathered at the Agat, Guam Mayor's office today for a village clean up. The group of nearly 40 service members split into two squads. The first gathered 2 dump trucks full of vegetation, much of which was knocked down during Typhoon Mangkhut, from Nimitz Beach. The second group power-washed and then scraped paint from the exterior of the mayor's office. After the cleanup, Agat Mayor Kevin Susuico and his team treated the group to Fiesta Food, a traditional Chamorro meal. As part of USS Ronald Reagan's port call in Guam this week, more than 12 groups of service members have participated in volunteer efforts in different places on the island.
