The differences claimed to exist in the shape of the presphenoid between typical manul and nigripectus similarly fail in the skull in the British Museum. In the young skull of nigripectus from the Yamdok Lake the exposed part of the bone is sagittiform or "spear-headed" in shape, very much as in Birula's photograph of the adult $ skull of typical manul from Semipalatinsk {loc. cit., pi. 8, fig. 4), although a little narrower, and differing from the much narrower.
