Gardeners names on the lavatory wall in the Lost Gardens of Heligan


The 'Thunderbox Room' (lavatory) at the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall, where gardeners leaving to join the army and fight in World War One, signed their names on the wall, many were killed and did not return. Ken Paynter is photographed with medals of his father Frederick Paynter, who was one of the gardeners who was killed.
