Apoera Railwaystation Suriname never used and abandoned leaving a 300 million guilders to the jungle


The Apoera Railway was built as part of a bigger infrastructure plan to develop the Jungle of West Surinam. Mining Companies like Biliton planned to mine Bauxite in the Bakhuis mountains late 20th century Transportation over 50 km of railway was needed for the bauxite to Apoera and from ther shipped tot the aluminium factory near Paramaribo. Because of the militairy coup led by Bouterse and lowered prices of aluminium several companies withdrawn, leaving a 300 million dutch guilder investment to the jungle, The trains were never used or just temporarely by Surinam soldiers for hunting purpose.
