Hundreds of reasons have beengiven as the cause of the Clark-Dalywarfare. Some have said the twomen disputed over a have asserted that they squab-bled over art, Clark being a collectorof paintings, like Sir William VanHome, while Daly had no knowledgeof the fine points of a canvas. As a matter of fact, the basis ofthe trouble was the great Anacondamine, the wonder of Montana.
