HUMPHREYS, COMPANY E. 1863. Born December 1, 1832, in Logan county, Ohio. Was marriedin Jasper county, Indiana, in August, 1856, and has a wife andeight children living. He lived after the war in Benton county, In-diana, until 1871, when he moved to Kansas and has been living inReno and Kingman counties ever since, and has been engaged infarming. Comrade Humphreys was captured April 19, 1863, nearHolly Springs, while the regiment was on the Chalmers raid, andwas sent to Jackson, Mississippi, and kept there until the last ofMay, then sent to Libby prison at Richmond, Virginia. After beingthere eight days he was lucky enough to be put in a room where alot of men were ready for exchange, and was sent to Annapolis,Maryland, some time in July and to Indianapolis, Indiana, sometime in August, but the exchange was not completed until Novemberand he
