He acted asrecorder in Salt Lake County from1915 to 1918, was an extensive trav-eler, touring much in the South was active in political and civiclife, and served as postmaster at onetime in Ogden, Utah. He died verysuddenly Feb. 23, 1926, in Salt LakeCity, Utah, and was buried in Ogden. MATHIAS, John B., president protem. of the Australian Mission fromJune to November 1900, was bornOct. 29, 1875, in Nephi, Utah, a sonof Jonah Mathias and Abigail Bur-banks. He was baptized Sept. 1, 1884, was set apart for his missionto Australia May 12, 1899, depart-ed from Australia Feb. 26, 1901, andreturned to Utah March 2
