Benign rectal growth. Endoscopic view of a benign (non-cancerous) tubular adenoma (centre right) in the rectum, snared during removal (polypectomy). Adenomas are growths that arise from glands. They can be an important early warning of potential cancer development. If the adenoma remains benign then it may be left in place unless it causes discomfort by obstructing the passage of waste.
