Midgard Glacier, Greenland, aerial photograph. This is the upper part of the Midgard Glacier system in southeast Greenland. This flight was part of the Operation IceBridge Helheim-Kangerdlugssuap Gap B mission in May 2016, part of the 2016 Arctic Spring Campaign. Operation IceBridge is a NASA project that monitors polar ice cover using aircraft instead of satellites. It was introduced in 2009 as a replacement for the malfunctioning ICESat satellite.
