A Seafaring Doctor Calls on a Patient. Somewhere in the Mediterranean, a seaman aboard a merchant convoy ship requires immediate medical attention. He has suffered an injury or fallen critically ill. A "hurry up" message is passed to the Coast Guard-manned Destroyer Escort on the convoy's flank. Soon the doctor is in the air in a boatswain's chair. On this mercy mission, the doctor is James W. Todd, Public Health Service, of Belton, SC. In foreground, below are: Coast Guardsmen Lloyd Nolan, coxswain, of Chelsea, MA and John A. Johnson, boatswain's mate second class, of Brooklyn, NY.
