The impressive Lapidary Wall at Narbo Via, the new Roman History Museum of Narbonne showcases elaborate relief stones from Roman tombs.


The city of Narbonne in the Occitania region of Southern France has a rich Roman heritage. Narbonne was founded as a Roman settlement in the 2nd century and was the capital of the province Gallia Narbonensis of the Roman Empire. - Narbo Via, the new museum of Roman history in Narbonne designed by Sir Norman Foster opened in 2021 and houses finds from the whole region. A main attraction of its exhibition is the moving Lapidary Wall with carved stones from Roman tombs constantly moved in a high-bay racking apparatus.
