A silver-mounted shashqa, Russian/Caucasian, end of the 19th century. Single-edged blade (somewhat stained) with double fullers on both sides, and with a double groove within one of the fullers. Finely hammered, engraved and nielloed silver grip (cracks). Leather-covered wooden scabbard with silver fittings worked en suite. Reverse niello decoration and maker's signature, as well as a mark of fineness for "84" zolotniki. Suspension ring and original hangers.
