Carvings in the rock face at Calas Coves Menorca Spain
The sheltered cove of Calas Coves is surrounded by high cliffs which are peppered with over 100 bronze age caves carved out of the rock some used as burial chambers others as homes. The oldest caves date back to the 9th century BC some date from the 4th century BC and have Roman inscriptions indicating they were occupied after the Talaiotic period.
