Shuttle/Mir docking. Artwork of the Space Shuttle Atlantis docked with the Russian Mir Space Station during Shuttle Mission STS-71. In the background is Lake Baikal, Russia. Atlantis is docked to Mir via the Kristall module. Above Atlantis' cockpit is the Kvant 2 module, to the right is the Priorda module. Above centre is the main block of Mir. At the top of the assembly is the Soyuz-TM craft (black) used to ferry Russian crews to the station. This is joined to the main block via the Kvant 1 module. STS-71 flew from 27th June to 7th July 1995, and was the first Shuttle/Mir docking mission.
