ANATOMY, TOOTH

Anatomic model of an human upper molar. A tooth is composed of two parts: the crown (in white), external and covered by the enamel, and the root (in beige), implanted in the gum and covered by the cementum. The neck is the constricted part lying at the junction between the crown and the root. The upper molar, located in the back of the jaw, chews and grinds food; it has for that four cusps. It is inserted in the gum by three roots.
