Mike Grunst, the senior enlisted advisor of troops for Khaan Quest 2016, walks around a mountain peak prior to heading to the survival training camp site where service members with the Mongolian Armed Forces, Alaska National Guard, the Marine Corps’ 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, and Czech Armed Forces will be training throughout the week to enhance survival tactics as part of Khaan Quest 2016. Khaan Quest 2016 is an annual, multinational peacekeeping operations exercise hosted by the Mongolian Armed Forces, co-sponsored by Pacific Command, and supported by Army Pacific and Marine Corps Forces, Pacific. Khaan Quest, in its 14th iteration, is the capstone exercise for this year’s Global Peace Operations Initiative program. The exercise focuses on training activities to enhance international interoperability, develop peacekeeping capabilities, build to mil-to-mil relationships, and enhance military readiness.
