Fifteen-milliliter- samples were collected throughout the elution. The profile of protein elutecl from the column is shown in Figure 6. The pH gradient is presented, as well as the Cl' concentration as meq/1. Chloride was determined with a Cotlove chloridometer and pH with a Beckman probe-type electrode. Beta-glucosidase activity is indicated by the hatched area. Beta-glucosidase activity and a trace of /3-galactosidase.
