The frog stood no chance against the Indian roller. Guptipara, West Bengal, India: THESE SHOCKING photos show a colourful bird trying desperately to swallow a large frog whole. One image shows an Indian Roller bird attempting to eat a frog half its size but only managing to balance the meal from the top of its beak. These images were captured by photographer Ramesh Karmakar (28) in Guptipara in the West Bengal of India, using a Nikon D500 camera. ?There is a forest on the banks of the river Ganga near my house. I usually go to that forest to take pictures,? said Ramesh. ?One afternoon I suddenly saw the Indian roller bird for the first time on a high branch. ?Slowly I moved closer to the bird and took pictures. ?When the Indian roller caught the frog, I kept calling to God to allow me a minimum distance to take the picture. ?I managed to get close enough to slowly photograph the Indian roller with the The Indian Roller grows 13 inches long and has a wing span of 29 inches. The Indian Roller has been known to dive into water, much like a kingfisher, to catch frogs and fish for its meals. ?I felt so good after taking these pictures,? said Ramesh. ?I used to go to the forest every day to see this bird but every time he was sitting on a high branch or a powerline. ?I passed like this for about a month and a half before I got the picture. ?I didn?t give up.
