Sunrise of the great standing stones at Avebury stone circle, part of the World Heritage site complex in Wiltshire.

The winter sun catches the top of 2 great standing stones as it rises over the village of Avebury in Wiltshire. It is believed the stone circle, the largest in Europe was constructed some 4600 years ago, the true reason for its construction is not yet fully understood. Today it forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site complex in Wiltshire along with its more famous neighbour 'Stonehenge' and the 'West Kennet Long Barrow'.
