Cut flowers have not been cheap in Nashville all summer, or rather since the peonies were done. Our many schools and colleges will open soon, and already many are re- turning to the city to get things in readiness. Various Notes. Mr. Ewing, of McKay, Beece & Co., the seedsmen, is away on rather an extended trip, inspecting crops and buying supplies. They report the fall business as opening better than ever before in the history of the firm. The day I called they had just sold to one farmer 600 bushels of seed wheat, to be sown on his own farm. More and more our farmers are learning the value of good, pure seed. Mclntyre Bros, have purchased a new place about two miles out of town, on one of the principal car lines, and are building a range of houses on it. They will transfer all their vegetable growing to this new plant and devote the old place entirely to flowers. The move had become necessary, as they were unable to secure more land adja- cent to the old plant to accommodate their growing business. Mr. Odell, at one time proprietor of the Cumberland Seed Co., in this city, has started business near the L. & N. freight depot and seems to be getting a nice trade. Geny Bros, report business as rather quiet at present. They are cutting a good supply of roses of all the summer varieties, with a fine cut of Killarney just coming in. They have been able to clean up pretty well on everything that they did
