Andre Kuipers and ISS Colombus simulator. Dutch physician and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Andre Kuipers (born 1958) inside the International Space Station (ISS) Colombus module simulator. Columbus is a science laboratory module on the ISS. This simulator is used for training astronauts traveling to the ISS. Kuipers took part in the Soyuz TMA-4 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) for 11 days from 19-30th April 2004. He was then chosen for PromISSe, the fourth ESA long-duration mission to the ISS. He launched on Soyuz TMA-03M on 21st December 2011, and stayed on the ISS for 148 days, returning to Earth on 1st July 2012.
