View of the Machine of Marly, etching, 1714-1715


Inscription (French) reads: This famous machine was built between Marly and the village of La Chausée, in an arm of the Seine River that was blocked by a dike. The wheels are 30 feet in diameter, and the wings 6 feet in length. It supplies water to Versailles, Trianon, and Marly; after having passed over the large Aqueduct which is made up of 36 arches of hard stone
