This makes a sort of game and will be interesting as well as instructive. The same method should be used in studying various kinds of weed seeds, and this will be much harder as the weed seeds are smaller as a rule. For all seed-study work a magnifying glass is necessary, and while a reading glass, such as is found in many homes, is satisfactory for the larger seeds, a stronger lens is needed for the smaller seeds. Every school should have such a lens for it will be of value not only in the study of seeds, but in observing small insects, the parts of flowers, and other interesting things. We know that many schools have a little money to spend during the year, and feci sure that no one thing would be of greater usefulness and interest than a lens.
