Itis a rectangular basilica, meas-uring within the walls seventyfeet in breadth and one hun-dred and eighteen feet inlength. (Fig. 42.) The naveand aisles, separated by ar-cades of ten high, stilted, per-fectly plain, round arches oneach side, supported on mar-ble colunms, whose capitalshave the Corinthian form,with Byzantine leafage and stilt-blocks, terminate each in a semicircular apse, of wdiicli the cen-tral one alone belongs to the original construction.
