Medical Zodiac Man, 16th Century

This German woodcut from 1512 illustrates how different parts of the body relate to the signs of the zodiac. Such information was used in the practice of bloodletting, a common treatment until the mid 1800's. Bloodletting was considered most effective during the months of April, May and September.
