Alum Bay Isle of Wight and the Solent

Alum Bay is situated near to the Isle of Wight's most famous landmark, the chalk sea stacks known as the Needles. Alum Bay affords fine views of the Needles but is also known for its own red coloured cliffs. The area gets its name form the former practice of collecting mineral deposits from the beach for use in the manufacture of Alum. The area is very popular with visitors.
