It were an endless task to pursue these doctrinesthroygh all the variations, necessary to force some sort of agree-ment, and the lifeless application of perverted texts of the distinctive points may be stated historically and thengrouped. Sidney Rigdon was expelled from the Baptist church in Penn-sylvania for preaching communism of goods, and after a briefconnection with the adherents of Stone and Campbell, they alsoibund it convenient to dispense with him. And at this point a curious parallel is noticeable:almost at the same time that Stone, Campbell, OKane, andothers organized the Church of Christ, Joseph Smith and hisfamiliars organized their church by the same name; and it wasso called by its adherents till after the expulsion from Jacksoncounty. They first lengthened the title to Church of JesusChrist, and at Kirtland added the words, of Latter-daySaints; and this six-worded designation is the official title to-day.
