There are salmon in it; Init I fear it is very much i)oached. But 1 might multii)ly these sort of sporting paradises ad injinitiim, as my mind carries mc back to the old fjimiliar scenes. Some of the best of them are inaccessible to the (;asual tra- veller, and can only he visited by a man-of-war. If I were asked which is the best river in New- foiuuUand or Labrador, I should say the East riv(>r, at Hawke's Bay, for the former, and Forteau river for the latter. In both these rivers a fine salmon-pooI will be met with, not far from the mouth ; and at each pool a large rock will be seen near the head, upon which many naval captains have stood, rod in hand. Should any one have the luck to be at Hawke's Bay, on or about the r2th July,.
