The Great grey shrike ( Lanius excubitor ) is a bird whit this particular behaviour: it does impales its preys as food storage in winter time (and sometime also in breeding time). In this case the lesser white-toothed shrew ( Crucidora suoaveolens ) is impaled upon a howthorn's thorn.
