British Attack on St. Louis, 1780 Hardly had a decade passed after the founding of when the news came that the American colonists werein revolt against England. In 1778 Virginia sent GeneralGeorge Rogers Clark with his Kentucky riflemen to take fromthe British all north of the Ohio and east of the Clark succeeded.
