Thereafter he went to work,but his ambition looked toward a profession, and whileemployed as a glass worker he attended night schoolsand saved money for his higher education. When he hadaccumulated sufficient funds to warrant it, he enteredthe University of Michigan, at Ann Arbor, and wasgraduated from that institution with the degree ofBachelor of Laws, in the class of 1900. He was regis-tered with William Brennan, Esq., and later with Wil-liam M. Galbraith, Esq. Mr. Lippert was admitted tothe bar March 22, 1902, and entered upon a partnershipwith Thomas T. Kern, which continued for three BIOGRAPHICAL 329 since which time he has carried on alone a wide generalpractice. On Feb. 22, 1909, Mr. Lippert married Anna C. Wen-dell, a daughter of Stephen and Josephine Wendell, ofPittsburgh, Pa., her parents now deceased. Mr. andMrs. Lippert have only one child living, Mary JosephineLippert. JOSEPH WASSER—Making a success in the produc-tion of a daily necessity of the mercantile world, Jo-seph Wasser, of Pittsburgh, Pa., has for more than aquarter of a century been a prominent manufacturer ofwooden and paper boxes. Mr. Wasser was born in Russia, July 15, 1870, andleceived his education in his native country. He cameto America at the age of sixteen years, locating in Pitts-burgh, Pa.
