Stormont, the parliament building for the Legislative Assembly of Northern Ireland opened in is situated in Belfast. Made of Portland stone, it was used by the Royal Air Force as an operations room during World War II when the exterior was camouflaged with a mixture of bitumen and cow dung that took seven years to remove after the war.
