SAIL Amsterdam is held every five years in Amsterdam, Holland. It is one of the largest maritime festival in the world, held over four days in and around the eastern harbor of Amsterdam. Many types of ships and boats can be seen during the festival, with the most visible being the tall ships visiting from all over the world. SAIL 2005 was held from the 17 to 22nd August and was the 7th edition of the festival. It numbered over 600 historical ships including 21 tall ships, as well as hundreds of other types of crafts, such as steam ships, tug boats, classical sailing boats and moderns vessels. Between 2 to 3 million visitors were attracted to the event.
