Harbour seal (Phoca vitulina) skull. The mouth and teeth are at left, below the large nasal cavity. The eye sockets are right, near the hinge with the mandible (lower jaw bone). Seals are carnivores, using their sharp teeth to feed mainly on fish. Photographed at the Seal Rehabilitation and Research Centre (SRRC), in Pieterburen, the Netherlands.
