ROXAS CITY, Philippines (July 28, 2015) Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. John Mackinnon (left), from Sacramento, Calif., is assisting a student by simulating a victim needing rescuing while at a water search and rescue training event during Pacific Partnership 2015. The training held at Villareal Stadium is part of the Coast Guard water search and rescue certification process intended to prepare the responders for emergency situations in the water. Pacific Partnership is in its 10th iteration and is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. While training for crisis conditions, Pacific Partnership missions to date have provided real world medical care to approximately 270,000 patients and veterinary services to more than 38,000 animals.
