One of a number of flow metering stations installed in areas such as undeveloped natural flood plain catchments by the UK Environment Agency as part of flood risk management schemes. This monitoring station on the Letcombe Brook, a tributary of the Thames, is powered by a solar panel and hydrometric readings, along with basic station data, such as location, elevation, time and date, are relayed to the central receiving station. The measurements of the river level are made every 15 minutes and can be accessed online. On the opposite bank a depth scale has been erected.
