Dahlia 'Anne Brecherfallen.' Andreas Dahl, (after whom the dahlia is named) considered it a vegetable not a flower. They were sent over to Madrid from Mexico by Spanish settlers at the end of the 18th century. The first varieties of large double blooms were bred in Belgium and they became known for flowers not food. Monsieur Doncklaar's flowers were sent to England where they became a craze. They flower from the end of July to Autumn. Frost tender herbaceous perennial.
