SHIPPING ABILITY—Does not show bruises, will car- ry to distant markets, and will keep for weeks. 6. TREE IS SEMI-SPREADING IN GROWTH HABITS. BLIGHT RESISTANT, COMES INTO BEARING EARLY. Wrixparent was found as chance seedling in a Yellow Transparent orchard of Mr. Wrixhain Mellvain of near Mag- nolia, Del. and determined to be superior in every way to Yellow Transparent. Subsequent generation trees have pro- duced early and heavy crops. The tree is more spreading than Transparent and hardy in wood, not being subject to blight and other fungus diseases. The fruit averages large in size, being slightly natter than Transparent and packing out commercial size 2%" to 2%" at picking time. The Wrix- parent ripens 10 to 15 days earlier than Transparent and ripens its fruit evenly so that entire crop may be harvested in two pickings if desired. It is an attractive light green color without markings; its flesh is white, crisp, sprightly. very fine texture, and does not bruise easily. Sub-acid in flavor and unsurpassed as a cooking apple. long record as our most widely planted early commercial apple. Tree grows upright, hardy, early bearer, good sized, skin clear white to pale yellow in color. Flavor very good. An excellent cook- ing apple known to the housewife everywhere. Ripens early- July.
